Signed and inscribed on ffep "John McNeil Esq, with regards of W.D. Northend". While difficult to determine for certain, it seems likely that this John McNeil would have been the John McNeil (February 14, 1813 – June 8, 1891) who was a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War and involved in several campaigns. Condition: Hardcover, with minor bumping to corners and spine ends, minor general scuffing. Front hinge is cracked. Signature and inscription have left a ghost impression on the front inside cover. Th back hinge is cracked as well, but as not as much as the front. Otherwise the binding remains secure. Interior has faint spotting throughout but overall clean, and unmarked.
