Patavini Episcopi Aemoniensis Elogia
Virorum Literis & Sapientia Illustrium as vivum expressis imaginibus exornata.
Ad
Sacram maiestram Christianissimae
REGINAE ANNAE
Gallia & Navarre Regentis.
Patavii, ex Typographia Sebastiani Sardi. MDCXLIV [1644]
SUPERIORUM PERMISSU
Notes: In Latin, and bound in vellum with faded handwritten title on the upper spine. From the Queen Anne era, during the few years she was regent of France and Navarre (as dedicated on the title page). Published in Padua, Italy. Illustrated with engraved portraits of each subject. Please review the photo of the index pages with the names. 411 pages, measures 6.75"x9.5" inches.
The subject of this book is lives of illustrious Paduans of the day.
The ffep has a small, very neatly written name and date - "G. A. Baumgarten-Crusius, 1803. / ex auet: Dresd: ___oat." and accompanying loose bibliographic (?) note that appears to be in the same handwriting and ink color, along with some pencil notes. This was presumably Gottlob August Baumgarten-Crusius who, according to German wikipedia, was a "German theologian and government and consistorial councilor in Merseburg."
Condition: The vellum cover boards have some scuffing, darkening with age, and flare a little. Binding remains firm, notwithstanding the visible front and back hinges. The title page has darkened with age, otherwise there is minimal to minor foxing throughout. On the whole bright and clear. All engravings are present and accounted for. Faint pencil note on the back endpapers, and "G. 7" written in pen on the front inside endpaper. Please review the photos for specifics.
