Consecrate all'illustriss, & Excellentiss. Sig. Battista Nani, cav. Proc. di San Marco

In Padoua, per Pietro Maria Frambotto M.DC.LIX [1659]
con licenza de Superiori, e Privilegio

Pasted-in coat of arms of Girolamo Durazzo on the half-title page, presumably indicating his ownership. According to Wikipedia, he was a politician and "is often referred to as the Last Doge of the Republic of Genoa, being however Doge of the Ligurian Republic, moreover the only one, in the Napoleonic phase."

Condition: In Italian. Measures 6.725"x9" inches, 279 numbered pages plus several pages of index. The subject of the book is on ancient Roman inscriptions. This antiquarian hardcover book is generally in very good condition. The binding I think was done much later, possibly late 1700s (I'm guessing Durazzo had it rebound?). The date on the title page is 1659, however the introduction is dated 1669. Presumed first edition. Attractive copy with an intriguing association of having been owned by a prominent politician of the Napoleonic era!

Contains one fold-out illustration in great condition with no tears. Beautiful blue marbled endpapers, and green ribbon bookmark. Some minor foxing, but mostly to the front and back couple pages. On the whole the text is very clear and bright.
