Ian Fleming Introduces Jamaica
edited by Morris Cargill
First edition, presumed first printing, 1965 (no mention of further impressions or printings). Please refer to photos: the title page displays Hawthorne, Inc. as the publisher, and the copyright page gives copyright to Andre Deutsch.
Fleming wrote all of his James Bond novels at his house in Jamaica where he spent time every year. He died before the book was published, but worked closely with Cargill on its conception. Cargill had suggested to Fleming that he should be the one to write the entire book, according to the preface. Fleming preferred the idea that a book about Jamaica should be written primarily by Jamaicans. Please see attached photo of the preface. The book is clearly a love letter to the country.
Condition: Dust jacket is fully intact and unclipped, with light wear particularly to the upper edge with small ~.25" inch tear on the front, faint sunning. Previous owner wrote their name discreetly on the front endpage. The book itself is in excellent condition. Lots and lots of full color photographs. Very attractive, presentable volume.
