SIGNED by Dwight Eisenhower on the half-title page, above a gift inscription from the previous owner, dated Xmas 1948. Of course, five years later Eisenhower would go on to become the 34th president of the United States, 1953-1961.

Condition: No dust jacket. Light scuffing apparent to the titles on the spine, otherwise a minimal bit of bumping to spine ends and corners. Front inside cover has a small old bookstore sticker near the top inside corner, but besides that and the gift-inscription, the book is very clean and neat. Binding remains firm. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos, as well as maps in black and white, with some including a sepia-tone/mustard yellow to match the cover boards and endpaper designs.
