Black Folk Then & Now
an essay in the history and sociology of the Negro Race
by W.E. Burghardt du Bois

New York: Henry Holt and Company. Stated fourth printing, October 1945.

Condition: No dust jacket. Hardcover is overall in very good condition. Cover boards have minor general shelf wear, titles on spine remain clear and legible. Front inside cover has previous owner's name. Interior is clean and unmarked. Binding is firm.

du Bois dedicated the book "to my granddaughter du Bois Williams on her sixth birthday in the hope that her eyes may one day see some of the things I dream." Yolande du Bois Irvin died in November 2021 at the age of 89, so she would certainly have seen the rise of the Civil Rights movement all the way through Obama's presidency. Read her obituary here.
